Light Writer ‘KRYT’

It is written with light. This is a visual but also a conceptual data. Light symbolizes the mind, the intellect and the mind. In order to precisely and thereby to form those words by the era
relationship, fade and disappear is the concept behind Kryt.

Kryt can be controlled live. A man sits at a desk writing. The movements of his pen are transmitted to a laser that projects the letters onto the facing wall. Because the wall is covered with phosphorescent pigment the stroke of the pen first brightly lightens, then it slowly fades away. At other times, the texts are generated by a computer. The fragments are written by inhabitants of the Eindhoven region around the theme ‘diary’. The snapshots from a diary fit the volatility of the light letters on the wall. With this work Gijs van Bon found a way to write with light. The words in Kryt appear and disappear and reminiscent of an endless stream of thoughts.
The basis of the idea behind a relationship between a public location and the public can be found in the word. Text is a powerfull given. To wite a word is to perform an act. With that word the stand is taken, a mind spoken, and communication begun. That can be something light and cheery, but also dark and meaningfull. In this time of twitter and texting, the fysical form of the word, the solidified thought, is becoming a scarce good.Texts are written by the artwork KRYT. It writes, ja bit like writing with a finger in sand, with light in public space. Very slow and pecise. It is possible to write anything, both prerecorded and live written. It is also possible to draw. So an interaction can be established with the audience. The moment NOW is very important. Kryt is about live communication. |
